5 Phases of Project Work
At LCG, we take our work with clients very seriously. Especially when we’re working on contracted services like Program Designs, Community Assessments, and Program Evaluations. When a client chooses to partner with LCG, it’s because they believe we can offer the kind of customized support they need to add capacity to their team, provide an objective perspective on challenges and opportunities, or help inform their vision for creating positive impact.
So what’s it like to work with us?
Each contract goes through about 5 phases, from the time we first meet to the time we finish our work.
Phase 1: Introduction: The key to a successful project is making sure it’s a good fit - for both us and our clients. Our Introductory meeting is our chance to make sure all the stars are aligned, including our capacity to complete the project, our shared values, and the kind of work you need done.
Phase 2: Proposal: We’ll use the information we got from the Introduction to create a Proposal. Included in the proposal is a detailed description of the Scope of Work, or the play-by-play on how we see the project unfolding. The Proposal also includes a detailed budget showing the cost of each part of the project. We try to be as transparent as possible with what each proposal costs. We encourage our clients to be specific about their budget, and to let us know if a proposed scope of work is more than you can afford. We’re happy to make adjustments!
Phase 3: Discovery: Each project is specific, and we like to customize our services to reflect each project's specific needs, challenges, and opportunities. Our Discovery process is where we gather the information we need to implement a project that looks and feels like your organization. We’ll review documents, discuss language, learn about your audiences, and confirm that the plan we have set out is the right fit for your goals.
Phase 4: Project Management: Once we get going, we like to stay in touch to let you know how things are moving. Typically for any projects longer than a month or two, we’ll set up regular check-in meetings to share our progress and adjust benchmarks where needed.
Phase 5: Close Out: Not goodbye, only farewell. The Close Out is our final meeting of the contract. We’ll confirm that all the deliverables have been met, make sure you have access to all documents, and that all payments are processed. It’s also where we’ll discuss any next steps and make sure you feel good about implementing what we created together. As we always say, it doesn’t matter how well we created the tools - if you can’t use them, we didn’t do our job. And we love to do our job!
